Cybercounselling is defined as counselling being conducted through texting, emailing, chat, and telephone and videoconferencing (Kraus, Stricker, & Speyer, 2011). Through the use of current technology, cybercounselling allows people to access counselling from the comfort of their home, as well as to see counsellors from different countries. This can help bridge the multicultural divide, as well as to help clients access counselling in their native tongue and cultural background (Krause et al., 2011)

  3. Cybercounselling can be secure! One of the concerns of cybercounselling is of course confidentiality due to utilizing technology, more specifically the videoconferencing technology. Many of these technologies are designed to create secure and confidential spaces for discussions to occur, so knowing the different limitations and benefits of different cybercounselling approaches allows you to better understand how cybercounselling can help you.
